Introduction
Are you a good problem solver? Do you have experience in private sector housing enforcement and regulation? Do you have a flair for improving housing standards?
The role
To work as part of a team and on your own to improve the standard of the private sector housing stock in the borough. Proactively identify and issue licenses for residential accommodation. Improve poor living conditions and enforce statutory provisions as an Authorised Officer under the Council’s scheme of delegations.

Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, 1 Catford Rd, London SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
What we’re looking for
You will be substantially experienced in investigating and enforcing housing standards in the private rented sector alongside delivering and enforcing HMO and selective licensing schemes in line with local policy and national housing legislation.
You will hold a HHSRS qualification (or another relevant qualification) and have detailed knowledge of housing legislation, property construction, building regulations, planning requirements, disrepair, property maintenance, landlord and tenant rights and the effects of housing conditions on health.
