We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to support the delivery of the Council’s Housing Options Service based in the Ryedale locality.
The role:
You will provide a full housing options advice and homeless service to those clients who are in housing need, fulfilling the Councils statutory duties under the homeless legislation, issuing decision letters, and arranging temporary accommodation.
You will be responsible for preventing homelessness wherever possible and provide a high standard of customer care to customers with the overall view to help find realistic and sustainable housing solutions for any household that the authority owes duties towards.
What you will bring:
This is a very challenging role that requires someone who is resilient, has empathy and patience to deal with clients in difficult situations. You must be flexible, comfortable working in a busy customer focused environment and have excellent IT skills.
The role requires good communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Knowledge and understanding of the role of the Housing Options Service and relevant legislation is desirable along with a general understanding of housing issues and previous experience in the housing sector.
The role is Monday to Friday, however, you will be required to participate in our out of hours service including weekends (on a rota basis) to respond to homelessness emergencies throughout Ryedale, including incidents in temporary accommodation, to which you will be paid additionally. You will be based in Ryedale locality, however you will be required to travel across the locality to carry out home visits as required and to travel to other offices within North Yorkshire to attend meetings and training.
